The teaching calendar outlining available lesson

weeks is made available several weeks before each new term begins.

Parents are to review the schedule, note any weeks they may be unavailable

for their designated lessons, and return a completed calendar with their

requested lesson days.  Schedules must be handed in before the deadline,

or a $10 late fee is applied.  Students are expected to request a minimum of 3 lessons a month.  Students who are unable to attend the minimum number of lessons are required to pay the minimum tuition if they would like to insure their lesson slot is not offered to someone on the waiting list.

Full tuition is to be collected at the beginning of each term in the form of post dated checks for each month in the term.  Checks are not cashed

all at once, but rather held and cashed individually the

month the check is dated. Total tuition is divided by

the number of months in that particular term,

therefore the checks are equal amounts, even if the

student may be  receiving fewer lessons in one month

than another.  Tuition checks must be handed in before the

deadline or a $10 fee will be applied.

Once requested lesson dates have been confirmed, the student is responsible for their lesson time.  Cancelations are not reimbursed, and

make-up lessons are not offered.  The student has the

option, however, of contacting other students to

trade lesson times or days if they find they have a

conflict with their schedule. They may also sell

their lesson to someone else if they find they can

not make an exchange.  Notification of a change

must be given as soon as it is possible.

As an active participant in the professional music world, I believe I am able to enhance my student’s education in a unique way.  However, because of this career choice, I often find myself under circumstances where I must reschedule lessons in order to attend professional recording sessions or symphony jobs.  I do everything I can to give students as much notice as possible under these circumstances.  However, students of the Thatcher Studio come into the studio aware that these circumstances present a unique “double standard” that they must be flexible to and comfortable with.  To be clear: I am free to change student’s lessons, and expect the student to be flexible in doing so.  Make-up lessons are offered under these circumstances only.  Once a lesson has been rescheduled, it is treated as a set lesson time and can not be changed by the student.  It is my policy that under the circumstance that I have to reschedule your lesson due to a conflict on my part, make-up days are Fridays and during particular weeks/days I have indicated on the schedule.  I will contact you and ask you your preference. Again, make-up lessons are reserved for conflicts on my end, and are not otherwise offered.
